Skinfood's Yuja C Dark Spot Clear Essence combines yuja extract—a citrus fruit also known as yuzu—with a stabilized vitamin C derivative. This creates a powerful formula that specifically targets spots and blackheads to even out the complexion.
What is Yuja?
Yuja, also called yuzu in Japan, is a citrus fruit cultivated in Asia. It is the size of a tangerine and is yellow-orange when ripe. Like a lemon or lime, the yuja fruit is highly prized for its fragrant peel, essential oil, seeds, and juice. The juice of a yuja is particularly acidic and forms the basis of yujacha, a lemon tea that Koreans swear by as a cold and flu remedy.
Yuja is also popular in skincare. Yuja contains three times more vitamin C than lemon. Vitamin C is essential for the body's production of collagen, a key component of healthy skin, hair, and nails. As a powerful antioxidant, vitamin C also reduces free radical damage and strengthens the body's immune system. Yuja essential oils have a strong fragrance that soothes and moisturizes rough skin and relaxes the body and mind.

Effect
Tranexamic acid targets early pigmentation spots and redness, gently lightening them. Vitamin C derivatives and plant-based whitening ingredients from licorice root prevent existing pigmentation spots from becoming embedded in the skin. Niacinamide intensively targets deep spots and ensures that the melanin in them is broken down.
